Good route - gives you time to aclimatise - excellent weather conditions summit was clear & warm - didn't need my down jacket & snow goggles after all. Going is hard across the caldera & up to the summit - blocky lava is very sharp - not to be attemped in lightweight boots. Be aware that the refuge is only open from 17.00 to 10.00 - if you turn up during the day it will be closed. Supplies are uncertain - there was no food available when I turned up & no drinkable water. You need a permit to summit - I forgot mine but the park ranger let me do it anyway
